The Siam Tea Room, the authentic Thai restaurant and casual café at Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park, invites guests to experience the traditional taste of summertime in Thailand with its new Khao Chae promotion – a delectable dining journey that blends cultural heritage and culinary excellence.
Literally meaning “soaked rice,” Khao Chae originated in the Mon Kingdom, before it was adopted and enhanced by the Royal Thai court during the reign of King Rama V (1868-1910). Available throughout March, April and May, this seasonal set menu starts with a revitalizing welcome drink of watermelon kaffir lime soda, and “Snowy Santo,” shaved ice with dried pork and bitter orange – a wonderful way to cool off during Thailand’s sweltering summer months.
This is followed by an aromatic bowl of jasmine-scented chilled rice, accompanied with a selection of classic condiments, each meticulously crafted with time-honored techniques that highlight craftsmanship and heritage.
Delectable dishes include deep-fried marinated shrimp paste ball, deep-fried pepper stuffed with minced pork & shrimp, fried stuffed shallot with fish, sweet shredded beef, sweetened shredded pork, sweetened shredded fish, deep-fried marinated minced pork with salted tiger fish, deep-fried butterfly pea with pork & shrimp, stir-fried sweet pickled turnip, deep-fried salted egg, and fresh mixed vegetables.
Cool, fragrant and refreshing, Khao Chae has now become a summertime favorite of the Thai people and the traditional dish of Songkran, Thailand’s New Year festival.
The Khao Chae set menu will be available at The Siam Tea Room every day from March 1 to May 31, 2026 (11:00 – 17:00 hrs). It is priced at THB 1,048 net per set (dine in) or THB 1,299 net (take away). Marriott Bonvoy and Club Marriott discounts apply.
