This Mid-Autumn Festival, Sindhorn Kempinski Hotel Bangkok presents an exquisite selection of handcrafted mooncakes, featuring the debut of the Osmanthus Blossom with Single Egg Yolk, a signature creation by Chef Simon Eberhardt, Executive Pastry Chef. Inspired by his deep appreciation for the distinctive aromas of Chinese teas, Chef Simon captures the delicate floral character of Osmanthus tea in an elegant mooncake created especially for the season.
Alongside this special creation, four traditional mooncake varieties invite guests to rediscover cherished Mid-Autumn favourites, available at Berthold Delikatessen on the Lobby Level, from 17 August to 25 September 2026.
Celebrated for centuries, the Mid-Autumn Festival is a time for reunion, harmony and shared moments. Drawing upon the timeless pleasure of enjoying tea with delicate confections, Chef Simon brings a contemporary sensibility to this cherished tradition. His Osmanthus Blossom mooncake marries the graceful notes of osmanthus tea with the rich, savoury depth of salted egg yolk, creating a sophisticated expression of the season.
Blooming around the Mid-Autumn period, the osmanthus blossom, also known as Osmanthus fragrans, is cherished for its enchanting fragrance and has long been associated with one of China’s most distinctive aromatic teas. Naturally sweet and delicately, smooth, osmanthus tea lends the mooncake an elegant floral character, creating a refined interplay of fragrance and flavor.
The ingredients also carry auspicious meanings deeply rooted in Mid-Autumn tradition. Osmanthus is traditionally associated with good fortune, prosperity and abundance, while the golden salted egg yolk evokes the luminous full moon, a timeless symbol of reunion and the joyful return of loved ones. Together, they create a mooncake rich in both flavour and symbolism, embodying the warmth and meaning of the festival.
Alongside the signature Osmanthus Blossom creation, Sindhorn Kempinski Hotel Bangkok presents four traditional mooncake flavours, each thoughtfully crafted for sharing with family and friends or offering as an elegant gift to loved ones, respected elders and valued business associates.
- Durian with Single Egg Yolk
Celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival with the rich and gently sweet flavour of Monthong durian, one of Thailand’s most renowned and beloved durian varieties. The luscious durian filling meets the savoury richness of salted egg yolk, all encased in the hotel’s specially crafted pastry for a beautifully, balanced finish. The name “Monthong”, meaning “golden pillow”, carries its own auspicious association with abundance and prosperity.
- Lotus Seed with Single Egg Yolk
A timeless expression of the classic lotus seed mooncake, this creation combines finely ground lotus seed paste with a single salted egg yolk at its centre. Delicate in texture and beautifully balanced in flavour, it embodies the enduring appeal of a cherished Mid-Autumn favourite. The lotus seed is traditionally regarded as a symbol of purity, longevity, abundance and harmony, making it a thoughtful gift for respected elders and loved ones.
- Chinese Dates with Single Egg Yolk
A classic flavour that has been cherished for generations, this mooncake features smooth Chinese date paste with a gently sweet flavour and a subtle hint of tartness, beautifully balanced by the rich and savoury salted egg yolk at its centre. Chinese dates are traditionally associated with sweetness and prosperity, while the golden yolk resembles the full moon, symbolising brightness, family unity and fulfilment in life. Together, these auspicious elements capture the spirit of Mid-Autumn in a beautifully balanced creation.
- Black Sesame with Single Egg Yolk
Deeply aromatic black sesame meets a generous salted egg yolk in this elegant interpretation of a traditional favourite. The rich, nutty character of black sesame brings depth and warmth, while the golden yolk at its centre evokes the full moon. Both ingredients carry auspicious associations, with black sesame symbolising strength, prosperity and longevity, and the full moon representing golden completeness, abundance and harmony within the family.
The exquisite mooncake collection is available at Berthold Delikatessen, Lobby Level, Sindhorn Kempinski Hotel Bangkok, offering an elegant choice for celebrating the season and sharing the spirit of togetherness.
