Germany’s most advanced sustainable building system now available in Thailand!

The DGNB (German Sustainable Building Association) system is worldwide one of the most advanced sustainable building rating systems which was developed with the goal to quantify and significantly improve the overall quality of buildings. To achieve this goal, DGNB follows a systematic approach consisting of three main pillars which are treated equally: ecological, economical and sociocultural quality of buildings. Also, DGNB is a performance-based rating system which includes a full Life-Cycle-Cost (LCC) calculation and a comprehensive Life-Cycle-Assessment (LCA) of a building instead of simple checklists.

With this approach, the DGNB system reaches far beyond existing certification systems such as LEED (US), TREES (TH) or BREEAM (UK). Furthermore, the system offers a vast variety of certification profiles not only for different building types such as office, residential, healthcare, industrial, commercial, but also for neighbourhoods, districts and even whole cities and it is internationally adaptable.

A total of five building projects in Thailand have already been successfully awarded with silver, gold or platinum labels for their outstanding sustainable performance. To honour the innovative thinking of the building owners, DGNB in cooperation with the German Embassy will additionally award these buildings with a “First Mover” award on 21st of November at 5pm at the residence of the German ambassador.

  • First Mover for Retail Buildings: Häfele Design Center Phuket (DGNB Gold)
  • First Mover for Residential Buildings: The Pruksa+ house (DGNB Platinum)
  • First Mover for Production Buildings: The New Grohe Factory (DGNB Silver)
  • First Mover for Public Office Buildings: Dhanaphiphat Office Building (DGNB Platinum pre-certified)
  • First Mover for Private Office Buildings: Project H (DGNB Gold anticipated)
